Artwork: ART DECO KIMONO SERIES
My Art Deco Kimono Series pays homage to my dad who served in the Korean War and had a love of all things Asian. He especially enjoyed bonsai trees, sake, sushi, and the people of this great culture. The Kimono series evolved from a serendipitous opportunity to recycle common objects (in this case, grocery store boxes) which led to an opportunity to showcase the beautiful nature of the boxes through unique designs. Some of the kimonos featured on my website have been made from yogurt boxes, some from cereal boxes, some from cookie boxes, and more. Several local McKinney restaurants have donated the craft beer boxes, of which the beer kimonos have been made. And my Crazy Rich Asians Kimono pays tribute to my new friend, Kevin Kwan, Author of the Crazy Rich Asians books and movie of the same.
Several of the art pieces have been in multiple juried art shows in Dallas. The Series is available as a travelling exhibit to interested museums and/or interested corporations.
